Durham, N.C. – On the evening of Thursday, February 23, 2023, a single car accident caused significant damage to the Durham County Parkwood Convenience Site, located at 5928 Highway 55. The damage was significant enough that the site was closed to the public.
Edit: March 2 - The Parkwood site repairs were completed on March 1 and the site will reopen with normal hours on Thursday, March 2, 2023, with normal hours of 10:30 a.m. to 6 pm.
Durham County Government staff are working with several contractors to repair the damages, but at this time the site will remain closed until repairs can be made to ensure the safety of customers and staff. Initial estimates indicate that site should reopen by the end of next week (March 3, 2023).
In the meantime, residents of unincorporated Durham County needing to use the Parkwood Convenience Site can visit the Redwood Convenience Site at 100 Electra Road, or the Northern Durham Convenience Center at 11894 N. Roxboro Road.
