DURHAM, NC (November 22, 2024) – On the evening of Thursday, November 21, 2024, investigators from the Durham Sheriff’s Office Anti-Crime and Narcotics Unit (SAC/Narc) with the assistance of the US Homeland Security Task Force (HSI) members, concluded an investigation into a local woman suspected of trafficking in cocaine. On that evening, investigators became aware of the whereabouts of Yadira Hernandez-Perez, 42 of Durham, and conducted a traffic stop. In her vehicle, they located approximately $76,000 in currency. During questioning, Ms. Hernandez-Perez admitted to having a large quantity of narcotics in her residence. With her permission, investigators went to her home and located approximately 18 kilos of cocaine. She was arrested and taken before a magistrate on charges of Trafficking in Cocaine and Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for a Controlled Substance. She received a $250,000 secured bond and remains in the Durham County Detention Facility this evening.
