STADIUM OVERVIEW
The Durham County Memorial Stadium was built at the present site and has become a major statewide professional venue for major athletic and community entertainment events.

The Durham County Memorial Stadium features new and upgraded facilities, and services for the citizens of Durham and the surrounding counties.

The Stadium has become the home football playing field for Division II Shaw University, has hosted numerous Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) football championship games, middle and high school championships, various men's semi- pro football games and the premier 2013 International Women’s Football League World Champions (IWFL), the Carolina Phoenix.

The certified eight lane track has attracted the attention of numerous elite track and field youth, high school and collegiate events throughout the previous years -- the Russell E. Blunt East Coast Invitational, the Durham Striders Track Club Development Meets, Big 8 High School Conference Championships, the PowerAde State Championships and the N.C. Senior State Games.

The artificial turf has played host to lacrosse and soccer competitions that included regional youth and semi-pro teams to international events as Honduras soccer retired national team versus a North Carolina elite soccer team.

In addition, the Stadium has hosted carnivals, auto shows, barbeque cook offs and the crowd pleaser entertainment with the addition of exciting outdoor jazz and gospel concerts.
