Durham Teenager Found Safe

UPDATE: Durham County investigators located Carolina Cortez-Cruz Thursday evening. She was found safe and has returned home.

Durham, N.C.— The Durham County Sheriff's Office is actively searching for Carolina Cortez-Cruz, 13, of Durham after her parents reported her missing. She was last seen around 6:20 a.m. on Friday, June 9 at her school bus stop at Michael Drive and Cheek Road. Cortez-Cruz, who attends Neal Middle School, did not return home last Friday.

She is a Hispanic female with brown eyes and black hair. She is at least 4 feet 5 inches tall, weighing between 120 to 140 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black sweater and blue jeans. Her photograph is provided below.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is urged to contact the Durham County Sheriff’s Office at 919-560-0900 or call 911.
