County to Recognize Memorial Day 2017
Durham, N.C. – Durham County Government will close most offices in recognition of the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 29, 2017. All offices will reopen with normal hours of operation on Tuesday, May 30th.
Durham County Convenience Centers:
The Durham County General Services Department will close all four of its solid waste and recycling convenience sites on May 29th. Durham County residents with a current 2016-2017 solid waste decal can resume disposal of garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky items at the County’s convenience sites on May 30th, beginning at 7 a.m.
The Durham County roadside recycling schedule for customers on Schedule B, normally serviced the week of May 29th will maintain the same schedule. All residents are reminded to set out their recycling bins before 6 a.m. on the day of pickup, to avoid a missed collection.

Durham County Library:
All Durham County Library locations will be closed on Sunday, May 28th and Monday, May 29th. All locations will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, May 30th.

Durham County Public Health:
The Durham County Department of Public Health will follow the Durham County Government Memorial Day holiday closing schedule.
For Public Health emergencies during the holiday closure, including communicable disease reporting, environmental health and suspected foodborne illnesses, please call 911 and ask for the Durham County Department of Public Health’s response team member on-call.

Durham County Social Services:
The Durham County Department of Social Services (DSS) will close its offices for the Memorial Day holiday. Residents are encouraged to call 911 to reach an on-call social worker to report child abuse and neglect or adult abuse and neglect. On May 30th, DSS will reopen and operate according to its normal hours of operation.
