Durham County to Celebrate National County Government Month
Residents Invited to Learn More about County Innovations and Programs
Durham, NC — Durham County Government will celebrate National County Government Month (NCGM) during the month of April to showcase how the county is building a healthy, vibrant and safe community through innovative efforts in managing justice and public safety systems, fostering conditions for economic growth, strengthening infrastructure and pursuing many other efforts to improve residents’ quality of life.
The theme for this year’s celebration of NCGM is “Brilliant Ideas at Work,” showcasing how counties are trailblazing new approaches to seize opportunities and overcome community challenges. Residents are invited to schedule public tours of County buildings and to learn more about current innovative projects and programs throughout the month of April. During the month-long celebration, information about innovation and government will be shared weekly via the County’s social media pages on Facebook @DurhamCountyGov and on Twitter @DurhamCounty.
“Durham County Government is proud of the programs and services provided to our residents,” said Board Chair Wendy Jacobs. “Some of our proudest work is done through interagency collaboration and also partnerships with other public and private sector organizations.”
Since 1991 the National Association of Counties (NACo) has encouraged counties across the country to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of counties.
